If one appreciates a simple physical spectacle, one has to find Key Witness an involving experience. Sometimes it is, indeed, easy: it is hard to find a battle brawls than the ones in In the Line of Duty 4.
THE CHINESE FEAST ANITA YUEN SINGS WHAT IS LOVE HOW TO
In the Line of Duty 4 has good charismatic stars (Cinthya Kahn, Donnie Yen), one of those goofy Michael Wong performances, a decent plot that is very well handled by director Yuen Woo-ping who knows how to keep one interested enough without getting too much in the way of the action and more importantly it has great amount of excellent fight choreography and some of the best stunts put on film.

There’s also a sheen manufactured feel to most of the procedural that makes it fairly inorganic. There’s a good eye for detail that anchors the scares and some real desire to deal with its leads wounded psyches. Early on Inner Senses plays like The Sixth Sense riff but it soon goes on unexpected richer direction. Karena Lam is a young woman hunted by ghosts and Leslie Cheung her psychiatrist dead set in proving they don’t exist while carrying quite a few ghosts on his closet himself. There’s also a hollowness to the whole enterprise that feels like an upscale exercise in horror more than the real thing. It’s a handsome put together film that pretty much screams quality from its strong performances and great production values. This Derek Yee produced ghost film has many of the strengths and weakness of his own efforts. Still, there’s a desperate side for Hui’s foolishness that feels like on Hui’s own needs to adapt himself towards a changing audience. There’s plenty of humor out of crime film expectations and the stock material gets some clever solutions but there’s none of the better observational humor of Hui’s great efforts and satire never goes very far. Like similar Hui vehicles, recast him in a more conventional and less mean spirited character does lose cost some of laughs but director Chan, Hui (who co-wrote it as usual) and many of the ace supporting cast (Mui, Ricky Hui, Roy Chiao) keeps things very amiable.

This time he is a police inspector trying to find the kidnapped son of a TV personality while taking care of his boss’ daughter (Anita Mui). One of the 80’s attempts by Michael Hui to expand his personal toward foolish heroes.
